Superhero Motivation – Justice League: Lessons Learned from the Flashpoint Paradox

So I know I’m a little late on this, but I recently watched Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox and I must say that it really shed light on some of the plot holes that I had while watching other DC Animated Movies. There were plenty of times where I either read comics, watched animated movies, or viewed the live action DC shows and they made reference to it, but I was clueless. In essence, I finally watched it and below I will discuss two major lessons that I learned from this movie.

Superhero Motivation – Focus on the things that you can control & leave the rest to God

One of the most important moments of the movie was when Barry was a little kid spending time with his mom. During this time period, Barry’s mom often repeated a saying to Barry that I have as a mantra for my life.

She told Barry to “Accept the things that he can’t change, and have the courage to change the things that he can.”

For me, I often say that “I accept reality for what it is by focusing on the things in life that I can control and leaving the rest to God.”

I think this is really important for all of us as we often deal with situations in our life that we wish had a different outcome.

In Barry’s case, he wish he could have been there when his mom died because he believed he could save her. After using the speed force and going back through time, he changed this outcome, but ended up creating an entirely new reality and almost destroying all of civilization.

Although we don’t have the superpowers that the Flash has, we do share the same human feelings, emotions, and baseline physical abilities.

On our respective journeys to success, we must focus on the things that we ourselves have power over.

Superhero Motivation – Never Take for granted the life that you are blessed with

In addition to focusing on what we can control, we must never take for granted the life that we are currently blessed with.

After Barry woke up in this alternate world, although he was glad to see his mom again, he was also suffering.

Now in a new world, he is beginning to lose the memories of his previous life and starting to have them replaced with the ones in this new universe.

It wasn’t until he reached this alternate world that he began to realize how important his actual reality was to him. Although he had lost his mom, he realized that the event had to happen in order for him to live in his actual reality.

Always remember that no matter how good or bad your current life is, it could always be far far worse.

Moreover, your life is yours and yours alone. You are the only one who can live your life so its up to you to make it the best life you possibly can. It’s your unspoken unwritten duty to yourself to make your life the best it can be.
