Success Tips – WWE: Lessons Learned From R-Truth

It’s been a long time coming, but I finally got the chance to write about one of my favorite wrestlers, athletes, and rappers, Ron “The Truth” Killings or OG K-Kwik as I like to call him.

This guy has been around the block for years and he’s been busting his butt and its starting to become extremely evident just how great he is.

Although he’s in his late 40’s, some would argue that he’s in better shape than most of the WWE roster.

Success Tips – When An Opportunity Presents Itself, Take It!

I remember viewing countless interviews from Truth in which he stated that early on, he was in and out of trouble a lot.

He said that at the time his love was hip hop, but he also played sports here and there as well.

His life was uncertain, but it wasn’t until he was approached with the opportunity to wrestle that his life began to change.

Because of his decision to go a different route, he’s become a huge success story for people around the world (not just us Carolina folk haha).

Success Tips – You Can Still Make History!

After his first stint with WWE which was the WWF at the time (Yes he was in the attitude era, and yes I was a little kid who fell asleep right before he won one of his hardcore titles at a houseshow in my state which pisses me off to this day), he went on to Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Impact Wrestling.

At the time, TNA was still on the rise and they were affiliated with the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). During this timeframe, TNA’s flagship title was the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

This was the same championship that shares lineage with the WWE World Championship and the WCW World Championship which was won by the likes of Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat, and Lou Thesz.

I’m giving this snippet of background because throughout the title’s 70+ year career there has only been 1 African American champion. To this day, the only man to accomplish such a feat is Ron Killings.

And to make it even better, he didn’t just win it once, but he did it twice!

Once against “The World’s Most Dangerous Man” Ken Shamrock in 2002 and again in 2004.

No matter who you are or where you are from, history can still be made in our time so believe in yourself and keep pushing!

Success Tips – Be Flexible And Make Your Situation Work For You

Now although I’d prefer for him to finally win a major World Title in WWE so he can finally become a Grand Slam or Triple Crown Champion under either of the formats, he’s currently been competing in the 24/7 division.

This is interesting because when the 24/7 championship was announced, everyone thought it was a joke and hated it.

However, R-Truth changed the situation and made it into a positive. Not only did R-Truth become champion, he’s transformed the 24/7 division into the most demanded portion of WWE programing.

Due to his natural charisma and ability to work well with other faces of the division like Drake Maverick, Elias, and EC3, they’ve literally made the 24/7 title must-see TV.

After being in the company again for a while, it seemed as though he was about to get tossed to the wayside and that’s exactly what the 24/7 seemed to be about.

This division looked like it was supposed to be for all the jobbers who get no screen-time to get some small amount of shine.

In essence, R-Truth turned a situation that looked like it would be death for his career, into a huge catapult.

As of now he’s one of the most popular stars in the company.

So if you ever feel like you are in a slump or a downward spiral in your life, then just follow R-Truth’s example and make your situation work for you!
